 Stephen PiontekEditor-In-Chief Steve Piontek is Editor-In-Chief of National Underwriter Life & Health. He is responsible for day-to-day editorial operations, including story assignment, editing and graphic support. His column, The Editor's Edge, comments on industry trends and current events. A frequent speaker at industry meetings and conferences, he has also moderated several panels. Mr. Piontek joined National Underwriter in 1980 as a staff writer after 5 years in the advertising and publicity department of a major book publisher in New York. He was named Managing Editor in 1989 and Editor in 1993. In 2001, as Editor-in-Chief, he was responsible for the most far-reaching redesign of the Life & Health edition in its 112-year-old history, with a completely new format and new editorial focus. He also oversaw the development of NU’s online daily news service and four e-newsletters. Mr. Piontek graduated cum laude from Brooklyn College with a B.A. in English. In 1998 he completed the Professional Publishing Course at Stanford University.

Jack BoboGuest Columnist Jack Bobo has been involved in the life insurance business since the 1950s. Mr. Bobo enjoyed a long and successful career in the field as an agent with New York Life. He was elected president of the National Association of Life Underwriters for the 1977-78 term. At the beginning of 1979, Mr. Bobo was named executive vice president of NALU. Under his leadership the organization grew to a peak of over 140,000 members. He has covered Washington for financial services publications since 1986, and has been writing about insurance issues since 1989. Mr. Postal came to the nation’s capital after serving for 10 years as Financial Editor for a metropolitan daily in Baltimore for 10 years. He joined National Underwriter in May 2004 with the acquisition of Insurance Chronicle by the National Underwriter Company.
