Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
*Responsible for medically underwriting all new business in the 2-50 and 51-299 group markets
*Monitor trends and changing practices in state and federal regulations that have a direct bearing on health underwriting and identify the need for new or revised underwriting policies, procedures and practices
*Maintain effective communication with the sales distribution channel and their support staff
Job Requirements:
*Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
*1+ year(s) of medical/health underwriting work experience
*Experience working with medical terminology
*Working knowledge of medical conditions and their effect on risk evaluation
*Experience working with MS Word and Excel
*Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to discuss conditions and offer recommendations to company Medical Directors
Business Specific Criteria (preferred skills):
*Understanding of group underwriting and rating fundamentals and principles
*Understanding of BCBSF group health insurance products
*Experience working with RBMS, Siebel, E-Rate, Business Objects or Stellant Professional

3. Analysis of financial data to identify current and future operating trends and locate problem areas. Provide solutions to various business problems.
4. Direction & review of the administration of all SOX activities.
5. Relationship contact with audit firm and state examiners.
6. Direct & review preparation of income tax returns.
7. Direct & review the annual license renewal filing process for all states, including the filing of premium tax returns and all required data forms.
8. Direct acquisition prospecting and due diligence activities related to acquisitions.
